How do cut-off dates work for a Semi-monthly pay cycle?

For semi-monthly payrolls, we pay employees twice a month. Each half of the month has its own work period, cut-off date, and payout date. Adjustments, expenses and salary revisions must be added and approved before the relevant cut-off.

Standard Rules (semi-monthly):

1st–15th of the month

All adjustments and approved expenses dated between the 1st and 15th are paid on the last working day of the same month.

16th – last day of the month (28th/29th/30th/31st)

All adjustments and approved expenses dated between the 16th and the last day are paid on the 15th of the following month.

If the 15th is a non-working day, payment is moved to the previous working day.

The same cut-off logic applies to salary revisions (changes to fixed pay).

All adjustments and approved expenses

Example: Philippines – November 2025

In the Important Dates calendar, when you select Philippines for November 2025, you’ll see:

Green – Payout Dates:

  1. 14 November – Payout for the second half of October (16–31 Oct).
  2. 28 November – Payout for the first half of November (1–15 Nov), which is the last working day of the month.

Purple – Expense Cut-off Dates:

  1. 15 November – Last date to add and approve adjustments/expenses for 1–15 Nov so they are included in the 28 November payroll.
  2. 30 November – Last date to add and approve adjustments/expenses for 16–30 Nov so they are included in the 15 December payroll (shown in the next month’s calendar).

So, for a Philippines employee in November:

  1. Items dated 1–15 Nov → submit/approve by 15 Nov → paid on 28 Nov.
  2. Items dated 16–30 Nov → submit/approve by 30 Nov → paid on 15 Dec (or the previous working day).

Note : The exceptions might be applicable for December month alone, considering the Holiday season. You will be informed on any of these changes in Advance.
